One Year of Jumping In: Reflections of our first 12 months in business

One Year of Jumping In: Reflections of our first 12 months in business

Today marks 365 days since we officially launched Rana Golf.

This time last year, we were full of excitement, nerves, worry, anticipation, and passion. Fast forward to today, and it seems all of those emotions are still present, but with twelve months behind us, we now have so much encouragement and affirmation for what we are building. Looking back on the past year, we could not be more excited for what has happened and what is still in motion.

All of this started with a simple idea: to make a better golf bag for our then 4-year-old. I wanted to create something that combined style, aesthetic, quality, and functionality, all to help kids fall in love with this game we all have a passion for. The more I sat on the idea and it came to life, the more excited I became for what Rana Golf could provide for little golfers and their families.

Yes, we care about the quality and design of the bag. That won’t ever change, but it’s always been about more than just the bag. I want our bags to be something little kids get excited about and ultimately help them find a passion for golf. I want our bags to help create a sense of independence and belonging being out on the course with their favorite people.

Little kids want to participate and feel like they belong, and what better way to invite them into this beautiful game than by giving them golf gear that is designed for them? In providing them an opportunity to make it their own, true passion and love for this game can be created. Thinking back on what golf has done for myself and my life, I couldn’t be more grateful to help play a small part in introducing golf to kids around the world.

Think about it. What has golf done for you? For me? It’s given me an outlet I can enjoy for decades to come. It’s given me instant access to community no matter where life takes me. It’s allowed me to meet so many amazing people, hear their stories, and connect intentionally with them. It’s taught and confirmed the importance of persistence and hard work. There is nothing better than working on an aspect of your game and then putting yourself to the test, and most importantly, seeing results. It constantly teaches me about life, as it seems to always be a perfect mirror to the complexities of life and how to overcome challenges. It allows me to be outside, connect with nature, and the beauty of the world we live in. I could go on and on about why I have fallen in love with this game, but if you play, then you know.

Golf is a wonderful game with so many parallels to life, let alone the opportunities for connection and memories. Selfishly, without forcing my kids into the game, golf is something that excites me as something I can play with my children for decades to come. Hopefully they indulge their old man as they get older as “quality time with Dad,” but if that doesn’t happen, that’s ok. Golf will always be there for them and for others.

We didn’t start Rana Golf to help create more professional players. If it happens, we won’t fight it, but what matters to me most is making golf as accessible and inviting as possible to little kids. Regardless of where life takes them, I firmly believe golf can be a great teacher, create memories together, and open many doors for them, both personally and professionally.

If you have followed, engaged, read this blog, opened an email, purchased, sent us an encouraging DM, or even silently cheered us on, I want to say thank you. None of this is possible without your support, and for that we will forever be grateful.

One year down, many more to come. We are so excited for how far we’ve come and firmly believe the best is yet to come!

Thanks for “Jumping In” and being here!
